Dear developers, we set up a PHP 7.2 environment for our ILIAS 5.4.x test installation: - PHP 7.2: https://72test54.ilias.de - PHP 7.0: https://test54.ilias.de Both URLs target to the identical database and file system/data directories. ILIAS 5.4.x/PHP 7.2

Dear developers, on 23 Apr 2018 the Jour Fixe accepted[1] the list of supported software for ILIAS 5.4.x[2]. One decision was the support of PHP 7.2 due to the tightened release cycle of the PHP project. As you maybe already noticed in the latest pull requests[3] there were and still are lots of PHP 7.2. issues in ILIAS 5.4.x resulting in run-time warnings (E_WARNING). The major defect characteristics could be summarized as: - Counting non countable values [4] - Using undefined constants [5] - Using get_class() with non objects [6] We hereby encourage you to check your components in regards of PHP 7.2 compatibility. We also highly recommend to use PHP 7.2 (and maybe 7.3) for your local 5.4.x and 6.0.x developer installations. Reminder : Call for Papers for Development Conference 2019

Dear ILIAS developers, With the upcoming Development Conference at March 28, 2019 in Cologne we would like to offer a broader programme to satisfy the interests of the different target groups in our ILIAS community. Therefore, we have modified the structure of the conference and also started a Call-for-Papers for the afternoon sessions. You find the new programme structure in our wiki at https://docu.ilias.de/goto_docu_wiki_wpage_5371_1561.html. The C4P for the DevConf is available here: https://docu.ilias.de/goto_docu_dcl_7026_145.html In the Call-for-Papers you can suggest a presentation or a workshop, as well as another format. Available slot lengths are 45', 90' and 135'. All together we have to fill nine slots in the afternoon. We highly appreciate suggestions that addresses one or more of our target groups like developers, administrators, tutors or authors. Deadline for the Call-for-Papers is February 25, 2019, 6 p.m. Additionally, we would like to introduce another format for the DevConf - a 'poster presentation' about planned new features that will be presented during an extended lunch break. Such presentations could be used to extend the number of supporters for your feature request as well as acquiring new funding partners. If you want to make such a presentation, please notify Matthias Kunkel until March 20, 2019. Thank you for all of your suggestions and contributions. We would highly appreciate suggestions from and for developers. And we hope to get a lot of interesting presentations and workshops to set up an attractive conference.
