Dear ILIAS developers,

We are very happy to announce that the first stable release of our new ILIAS version 8 has been published today, see https://github.com/ILIAS-eLearning/ILIAS/releases/tag/v8.0. Thanks to all developers, testers, funding partners and supporters for their contributions and support. Getting ILIAS PHP8 compliant was a lot of work for a lot of you - but an important step for the future and sustainability of ILIAS.

Even though more than 98% of the test cases could be carried out successfully, there are unfortunately still some bugs left in the first ILIAS 8 release. We hope they will be fixed in the next weeks to make ILIAS 8 even a bit more stable as it is now.
