I currently can't confirm this. I just updated a test system to ILIAS 5.2.6 on PHP 5.6.30 and my pads (Etherpad 1.6.0) are still working.

Any logs?

Not much - the pads show a "Sie haben keine Berechtigung, um auf dieses Pad zuzugreifen" message (on existing pads as well as freshly created ones). The etherpad log shows:

The API-Key seems to work, at least testing via the http/rest API works.
