Dear list members, due to the change of the ILIAS 9 release schedule[1], the Technical Board decided that ILIAS 9 will support[2] PHP 8.1 and PHP 8.2. The support for PHP 8.0 will be dropped. This allows our developers to write modern and sustainable code and to stay current with the accelerated release policy of the PHP project. We are aware that changing PHP versions at such a pace is a new and exciting development and imposing challenges for many developers (and administrators), but in order to keep the code of ILIAS in a state, where it does not silently degrade, we see no other option but following the lead of the programming language. If there is anything we can do to help you here or if you have any suggestions, feel free to contact us, as always. CSS Closed down due to Maintainance

Dear Developer Reminder for all core developers and developers interested in creating PRs for CSS/Less: * As announced in the JF, Dev. Conf. and CSS Squad, due to major refactorings in our CSS/Less Code Base, changes to Less/CSS are closed down from the 12.09 untill the 10.10. Please do not commit any changes to CSS/Less during this time. T&A-Plugins: Breaking change in 7.13

Hello all! This is a quick notification about a breaking change relevant for T&A Question plugins in the current 7.13 release. The fixing of https://mantis.ilias.de/view.php?id=28356 https://mantis.ilias.de/view.php?id=18793 requires a new parameter to be introduced to the fromXML method. Fix came with: https://github.com/ILIAS-eLearning/ILIAS/pull/4102 Specific commit introducing this change of signature: https://github.com/ILIAS-eLearning/ILIAS/commit/1576ff04a6039ce40386e707583a 012b1606026a Please double check with your plugin-question maintainers if they are aware and if their question is prepared for this. (To my knowledge, the STACK question, on which this was discovered, does offer a fixed version already). PSR-12

Hi everyone! TL/DR: trunk and release_8 use a PSR-12 based coding style now. Tooling is adjusted accordingly. ILIAS 8 » Accessibility-Issues in euren Komponenten?

Liebe Entwickler und Entwicklerinnen, liebe Service-Provider, ILIAS 8 ist in der Betaphase angekommen. Es liegt bereits ein erster Report zur Barrierefreiheit von ILIAS 8 (Alpha) vor. Siehe: https://docu.ilias.de/goto_docu_frm_6952_8277.html Im Rahmen eines Projektes, welches durch das Land Niedersachsen mit Finanzierung unterlegt wurde, steht Funding zur Behebung von Accessibility-Issues zur Verfügung. Konkret für ILIAS 8, aber auch für Issues, die auch schon in 6 und 7 gemeldet wurden und damit noch unter 7, 8 und weiteren auftreten dürften. (Für die nur noch kurze Restlebenszeit für ILIAS 6 würde ich da keinen Mühen mehr investieren.) Meine Bitte an euch: Bitte gebt mir und Matthias ein Zeichen, in welchem Umfang ihr für o.g. Releases Accessibility-Issues fixen könntet. Bitte auch unter beispielhafter Benennung einzelner Issues. Für eine Offerte ist keine Vollständigkeit erforderlich, jedoch ein Gesamtumfang im Sinne eines Stunden- oder Tagesvolumens. Die Offerte selbst muss am Ende an die Uni Hannover – Matthias und ich übernehmen nur koordinative Aufgaben. Zur Zeit sind sämtliche Accessibility-Issues aus dem Report für ILIAS 8 dem Leiter der SIG-Accessibility, Timon Amstutz, zugeordnet. Die vollständige Liste kann jederzeit in Mantis in der Kategorie "Accessibility / WCAG" konsultiert werden. Dort können sich Entwicklerinnen und Entwickler ein Bild der möglichen Aufgaben machen. Viele davon betreffen Legacy UI Components, welche nur implizite Maintainerschaften aufweisen. Fixes zu solchen Komponenten sind auch herzlichst als PR willkommen. Einen Wermutstropfen gibt es: Die Auftragsabwicklung (inkl. Rechnung) muss bis zum Ende des Jahres und damit real bis Anfang Dezember abgeschlossen sein. Andersherum wäre es politisch kein gutes Signal bei Bestehen der Finanzierung und dem Kennen von Problemen, die Mittel nicht abzurufen.
