Dear list members,
as you have maybe noticed, Composer 2.0[1] was released.
Some of our composer dependencies are not ready for the changed
plugin API of Composer, so Composer 1 MUST still be used for
all maintained branches.
The Technical Board put this topic on it's annual plan for January.
We will keep you posted about this matter.

as discussed in the JF [1], I just removed the GUI for the setup.
If anyone of you experiences problems with the new command line setup
during his or her own implementations for ILIAS 7, don't hesitate to

Dear colleagues,
many of you added dependencies to ILIAS and various services and functions heavily depend on the libraries we added. This is nice, but comes with a downside: outdated libraries pose a serious thread, to the security of our system as well as to the future of our codebase. Since the testing of ILIAS 7 will begin soon, this is a good moment to update our dependencies.
The TB therefore asks every maintainer that has added dependencies to the core, be it via composer, bower, npm or by hand, to update these dependencies to an up to date version asap. If this is not possible for any reason, we kindly ask for a short message explaining the problem.
For the libraries added via composer, you find a list of the responsible maintainers here [1] and directions on how to update the dependency here [2]. Please note, that `composer install` already flags the libraries imsglobal/lti, technosophos/LibRIS and zendframework/zend-httphandlerrunner as abandoned. For the libraries added via npm, you find the according information here [3] and here [4]. For libraries added via bower, this would be a good moment move them over to npm, since bower is now deprecated for ILIAS [5]. The same goes for libraries added by hand to the libs-folder or some component directory.

Liebe Serviceprovider, liebe ILIAS-Entwickler,
bereits zweimal in diesem Jahr habe ich euch erfolglos um Angebote für das Vorhaben "Metrics for Maturity Model“ gebeten. In Absprache mit dem Technical Board würde ich hiermit gerne nachfragen, warum die Ausschreibung offenbar nicht attraktiv genug ist, um sich zu bewerben.
Das Vorhaben "Metrics for Maturity Model“ ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung, um künftig besser über die Qualität und die Pflege von Komponenten sprechen zu können. Sie hat daher für das Technical Board und den Produktmanager große Bedeutung.
Aktuell verwenden wir nur einige wenige Indikatoren, z. b. die Zahl offener und priorisierter Bugs pro Maintainer (siehe die Tabelle „Bugfixing Statisticst“ im Jour-Fixe-Protokoll - z. B. https://docu.ilias.de/goto_docu_wiki_wpage_6534_1357.html#ilPageTocA297 <https://docu.ilias.de/goto_docu_wiki_wpage_6534_1357.html#ilPageTocA297>). Nötig sind aber bessere Metriken, die zum Beispiel auch die Komplexität der Komponenten berücksichtigen. Das Modul Weblink bugfrei zu bekommen, ist einfacher als die Komponente Kurs.
Bevor wir ein drittes und wohl letztes Mal einen Call for Bids starten, würden wir daher gerne wissen, was wir besser machen könnten, damit sich auch Bewerber für die Ausschreibung finden.
Was sollte an der Ausschreibung geändert werden, damit sich Entwickler bzw. Serviceprovider finden, die ein Angebot abgeben würden?
Fehlt es an Details und weitergehenden Informationen, was wir im Angebot erwarten?
Ist das Vorhaben zu komplex, um sich für die ganze Ausschreibung zu bewerben?
Ist der Zeitplan zu kurz, um ein Angebot auszuarbeiten (beim letzten Mal haben wir 6 Wochen für die Angebotserstellung gegeben).
Gibt es weitere Kritikpunkte oder Hemmnisse?
Für jedes Feedback auf diese Fragen wären wir dankbar. Gerne würden wir eine verbesserte Ausschreibung in nächster Zeit veröffentlichen und hoffentlich bis Jahresende auch Angebot vorliegen haben.
